Yuktha Biography
BORN IN a middle-class family in Mumbai on October 7, 1979. Her mother Aruna and father Inderlal were devoted parents and they raised their first child with love and care. She graduated in zoology from Mumbai’s Kelkar College. She was a devoted student and was in no manner different from her classmates, except for her height. Yukta was given the title of ‘Ms Amitabh Bachchan’ by her school and college mates.
It was tall Sushmita Sen being crowned Miss Universe, that 5.11-foot Yukta gave it a thought on why she also shouldn’t use her height to climb on to the higher pedestals of showbiz. She managed to get a nod from her parents to get into the big world of glamour.
And thus began her journey towards being another celebrity. Soon, media gave her the title of “beauty with brains” when she was crowned Miss World in 1999. As luck would have it, her Miss World title triggered offers from film producers.
Yukta made an entry to the Bollywood through “Pyaasa”, which unfortunately bombed. Celebrity status gave her the chance to do things that were close to her heart. She involved herself in various social causes like raising funds for cancer, AIDS and thalassaemic patients.
A trained Hindustani singer, Yukta is very passionate when it comes to music. She has also been reported to have plans to cut her own music album and be a singer-actor, like the yesteryear heroines.
Although, Yukta is yet to prove herself as an actress, but success will be at her feet one day for there is no dearth of talent.
